Croatia’s 3rd largest city contains the country’s biggest port. This transport hub is often used as a springboard to island and beach holidays, but the city itself is not without its charms. It has a vibrant nightlife and is host to Croatia’s largest carnival.
History lovers wouldn’t want to miss a trip up the hill overlooking the city to find Trsat Castle. Built in the 13th century, the fortress offers incredible views of the city. In summer it plays host to fashion shows and other special events.
A short distance away is Our Lady of Trsat Church, a popular location for pilgrims who go to see the St Mary’s icon that the Pope donated to the church in 1367.
