Stuttgart is a manufacturing hub surrounded by vine-clad hills. For the motor heads this city will be known as the home of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. Both manufacturers have their headquarters in the city, as well as fascinating museums.
Speaking of museums, Stuttgart is proud to contain what they claim is the largest pig museum in the world. It’s full of cartoons, paintings, and lucky charms – why not try it out?
For something more traditional, head toward the Bean Quarter. This is the oldest area of the city and has lovely second-hand bookshops, antique shops, galleries, and craft shops. The Altes Schloss, or the Old Castle, was a 10th century water fortress and now holds the Wurttemberg State Museum as well as the children’s museum.
